As a gathering of charitable spirit, every year during Tet, the joyful footsteps of the Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk set off once again, uniting the community in solidarity to support those in need.

The Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk is widely recognized as one of the most enduring community events in the southern area of the city. Originally initiated by Phu My Hung Corporation as a social activity, the program was designed to connect the community through sports and charity – walking together to raise funds to help the poor celebrate Tet. With the support of local authorities and the enthusiastic participation of residents, the Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk has steadily expanded and evolved over the years, becoming an annual tradition in the Phu My Hung City Center for the past 20 years.

To date, through 20 years, the walk has attracted nearly 240,000 participants. Through this event, Phu My Hung Corporation, in coordination with local authorities, has raised more than VND 51 billion. These funds have been donated to local “For the Poor” Funds, supporting social welfare initiatives such as the construction and repair of gratitude houses and charity houses, roof repairs, floor elevation, livelihood support, provision of essential means of subsistence, and Tet gifts for disadvantaged households. In addition, the walk has contributed to the “One Heart” Fund of Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), the “Supporting Funds for Sports Talents” of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, and several other social funds.

“To maintain and achieve the success of the Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk today requires the collective efforts of many organizations. Since 2008, local authorities in the southern area of the city – then including District 7, District 8, Nha Be County, and Binh Chanh County have joined Phu My Hung Corporation in organizing the event, mobilizing residents to participate and contribute donations. This collaboration enabled the program to expand and grow. The continued support of businesses, organizations, philanthropists, and especially the strong spirit of solidarity from thousands of participants walking together has helped make this walk a meaningful community event”, shared a representative of Phu My Hung Corporation.

Mr. Tran Tuan Hung, a resident of Phu My Hung, shared: “Since moving here more than 10 years ago, my family has made it a tradition to participate in the Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk every year. Walking alongside thousands of people for a shared humanitarian purpose, I truly feel the value of compassion and giving. I am especially happy that my two children are growing up in such a positive and caring environment”.

The vibrant atmosphere of charitable footsteps and the spirit of sharing will once again be reignited at the 21st Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk, taking place at 6:30 AM on January 24, 2026, at The Crescent Strip, Phu My Hung (Tan My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). The walk is organized by Phu My Hung Corporation in coordination with the People’s Committees of Tan My, Tan Hung, Tan Thuan, Phu Thuan, and Binh Dong Wards, as well as the Communes of Nha Be, Binh Chanh, and Binh Hung. The event aims to raise funds to support disadvantaged households in welcoming Tet 2026.

This year, the Organizers have set a fundraising target of VND 2.3 billion and hopes to continue receiving strong community support through participation in the walk and charitable contributions. Individual participants contributing VND 150,000 will receive a T-shirt, drinking water, and an opportunity to enter a lucky draw with many valuable prizes. Enterprises contributing VND 20 million or more will be invited on stage to receive a symbolic plaque in recognition of their support.
