Closing Photo Display for the “Night Park” Project at Phu My Hung

From October 30 to November 1, 2026, Nomura Real Estate Vietnam (NREV), in collaboration with Phu My Hung Corporation, will host the closing photo display of the “Night Park” project at P2 Park, Ho Chi Minh City.

The display offers an opportunity to reflect on nearly two months of experimentation and activities since September 4, exploring the potential of making park spaces more vibrant and accessible during the rainy season and at night. Through photographs, documentary footage, and creative works, the exhibition captures everyday recreational and community activities in the park while sharing the experiments and lessons learned throughout the project. Visitors are also invited to share their feedback, which will serve as a foundation for future public space development.

The “Night Park” model features two distinct experiential areas—Night Plaza and Rain Park—offering a variety of activities for fun, entertainment, and relaxation. During its operation, Night Plaza featured interactive lighting installations developed by mài, a local artisan group, inviting participants to touch and engage directly with the installations. Meanwhile, at Rain Park, an approximately 20-meter-long rainwater harvesting system designed by studio anettai encouraged children to explore the movement of water through play. Many families visited Rain Park in the evenings, while the information boards served as educational tools, helping parents and children explore the water cycle together.

Alongside these encouraging outcomes, the project team observed that some experiences at Night Plaza were not fully understood or engaged with as anticipated, highlighting opportunities to improve the spatial organization and connectivity between the two areas. These observations, along with outcomes that fell short of initial expectations, will also be shared at the exhibition.

The “Night Park” closing photo display is organized around Rain Park and Night Plaza, making use of the existing landscape of trees, lawns, and the pavilion. Visitors can follow the project’s journey through photographs and displayed materials, while the nighttime experience is enhanced by lighting and visual projections.

The exhibition is divided into 4 display categories:

  • Photo Display Area: Features about 20 picture frames capturing the design and construction process, daily recreational activities, and how residents use the park.
  • Display House Area: Planned to display and introduce works exploring the relationship between water and urban environments, records documenting the project implementation journey, and creations crafted during workshops.
  • Outdoor Garden Display Area: Features information boards and lighting elements arranged interwovenly across the lawn, enabling visitors to stroll while discovering engaging stories.
  • Night Projection Area: Showcases images and footage capturing children playing, rain showers, and the beauty of the park at night, projected directly at the park as night falls.

In addition to the display categories, the photo display includes other notable activities:

Journey in Search of Light: A Nighttime Treasure HuntParticipants step into the role of “Lightkeepers”, carrying flashlights, maps, and mission cards to restore light to the park. Starting from the exhibition house, players follow clues through Rain Park, collect secret signs, and finally arrange glowing cubes at Night Plaza to complete a pattern. The program offers families and friends a chance to explore a familiar park from a whole new perspective.

Carrying Forward Residents’ Voices into Future Urban Developments: The Closing Photo Display is not only an opportunity to showcase the results achieved, but also a chance to share unexpected uses, operational challenges, and listen to residents about what they want to maintain or change. From these insights, NREV and PMH will consider how to apply lessons from P2 Park to managing public spaces and developing future urban areas.
