The Mid-Autumn Lantern Making Contest is one of the main activities of the Phu My Hung Mid-Autumn Festival 2026, taking place at 15:00 on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at P2 Park (Phu My Hung, Tran Van Tra Street, Tan Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
The contest aims to inspire creativity among children, preserve and promote traditional cultural values, and create opportunities for family bonding and community connection. It is open to children aged 5 to 12, who will participate in teams of 2 to 4 members.
Within 60 minutes, each team will create and decorate a star-shaped lantern using materials provided by the Organizer. The star lantern, along with traditional materials such as bamboo frames and colored cellophane, has long been a familiar symbol of childhood, cherished by generations of Vietnamese children.
In addition to crafting and decorating their lanterns, each team will have 2 minutes to present the idea and message behind their creation to impress the judges and compete for the top prizes.
Total prize value: VND 8.4 million, distributed as follows:
- 1 First Prize: VND 2,000,000
- 2 Second Prizes: VND 1,000,000 each
- 3 Third Prizes: VND 800,000 each
- 4 Fourth Prizes: VND 500,000 each
- Additional prizes: Gifts and certificates will be awarded to teams with creative ideas, meaningful messages, and inspiring presentations.
The contest is limited to 30 teams, and registration will close once the quota is reached.
