Lakes and Ponds In The City (Part 1) – Crescent Lake

Landscape lakes and ponds are an essential part to create the wide green spaces throughout the Phu My Hung urban area. Not only to enhance the visual appeal and help regulating the climate, lakes and ponds also offer the community spaces for everyone. As strolling through neigborhoods in Phu My Hung area from Hillview District, Canal District to Crescent Lake, Nam Vien District, you’ll find romantic lakes and ponds scattered throughout.

Located in the center location, Crescent Lake is considered as the heart of the Phu My Hung urban area. With a surface area of approximately 3.4 hectares, Crescent Lake is the largest semi-artificial lake in Phu My Hung.

Laying next to Thay Tieu Canal and connecting it, Crescent Lake looks like a small bay. However, due to a set dam system, the water level of Crescent Lake is kept stable regardless of tidal changes. Because of that, the atmosphere around the lake is fresh, breezy always.

There is a conservation island of about 4,500 square meters nn the center of Crescent Lake where is mostly preserving  the native vegetation of the original Nha Be land. Trees such as mangroves, nipa palms, screw pines,… are reminders of the area’s transformation from marshland into a modern, civilized urban area.

A bird would perch in the safe land. The conservation island and Crescent Lake have recently become home to various species of birds, including rare ones. Along the lake’s stone embankment, sea spinach grow thickly, occasionally dotted with purple flowers.

Along with the Starlight Bridge (Cau Anh Sao), Crescent Lake is the signature landmark of Phu My Hung urban area. It becomes a popular destination for sightseeing, recreation, and physical activities of many people.
